On November 21, 2006, the Museum of Natural History (Naturkundemuseum), Berlin, published a press release (Uwe Reimold taking responsibility) entitled There is no evidence supporting a “Chiemgau Impact” (http://download.naturkundemuseum-berlin.de/presse/Chiemgau.pdf). In a reply to this press release we posed 10 questions pertinent to the results of our Chiemgau impact research with the request for answer by the signers. By now, our request dates back three months without any reaction from Berlin or from other signers. Since the press release speaks of an existing "overwhelming scientific evidence" against our hypothesis, there should be no difficulties at all in answering at least one or two of our questions in a methodically clear and thorough manner.
Instead, Prof. Reimold recently addressed the editorial offices of several Upper Bavarian newspapers by e-mail expressing his surprise and displeasure at the reporting on the Chiemgau impact and again referring to the press release. In his e-mail, Prof. Reimold revives the hint to the [cit] "completely lacking evidence" [of an impact in that region].
We use both the elapsed three months and Prof. Reimold's e-mail as an opportunity to remind the signers of the press release to state their position on our reply and to especially answer our questions to the results of our geologic, geophysical and mineralogical/petrographic research.
